Yvonne Venegas was born in Long Beach, California in 1970 and grew up in Tijuana,
Mexico.
Her work has been featured in solo exhibitions at Casa de America, Madrid,
2004; Musée des Beaux Arts d'Orléans, Orléans, 2004;
and the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, San Diego, 2003.
Recent group exhibitions includeTijuana Sessions, ARCO Fair, Madrid, 2005;
Fotografía mexicana contemporánea, Huesca, 2004; From Baja to
Vancouver; traveling exhibition, Seattle Museum of Art, Seatle, 2004; The
Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, San Diego, 2006; and Cornerhouse, Manchester,
2006. Venegas also won first prize at the X Bienal de Fotografía, Mexico,
2004; and the Young Creators Grant from the Fondo Nacional para la Cultura
y las Artes, FONCA, 2004. The artist lives in Tijuana, Mexico.
Heather Passmore
investigates aspects of class stratification and cultural hierarchies by experimenting
with different materials. Passmore obtained a Bachelor and a Master of Fine
Arts from the University of British Columbia. |
